In the mid-19th century, a Dalmatian peasant planted figs for refreshment. The main culture back then was wheat, but to keep the figs fresh during the working season, he had hidden the dried ones in the rocky karst.

Our Story

The story of the Ostojić family farm begins over a century ago. In the land of Peračko Blato, grandpa Ivan had planted the first figs and thus started a tradition of a culture that would in the future become a trademark of the entire area. The fig wasn’t always the most important culture in this part of Dalmatia, in fact, wine grapes and olives had the first and dominant role in farm households. The events that led to orientation change in favor of the times’ secondary culture were the 1938 tunnel construction that connects the lake with the see, which led to drying out of the area which is today Peračko Blato, and the populus migration from the Biokovo hillside towards the sea, as well as cultivation of agricultural fields that were underwater until that point. In the following decades tourism grows and an increased demand for figs occurs. As soon as the ’80s, the development of farmers’ cooperatives and the microlocation of Baćina lakes region – meaning alluvial soil and lake’s moisture – made this environment suitable for growing figs of excellent, supreme quality.

Those of us who can learn to get our assignment help stuff done despite our nature are the ones who will eventually make it to the tipping point where everything falls into place, and we can finally make a real job out homeworkhelper of what we love

For nearly half a century the fig is chief culture grown by family Ostojić. Following the footsteps of grandpa Ivan, Tomo Ostojić preserves the family tradition, its experience and small secrets, but also facilitates the culture by using modern and expert knowledge; he attended High school of Agriculture in Metković and then the Faculty of Agriculture in Zagreb. During those years he comes up with the idea how the family farm should be ran in the future, and that is to take to the traditional dried fig production and enrich it, making more new fig-based products. Following the dried fig and dried fig cake, a spicy version of the cake was produced on the basis of pairing the fig with wine and cheese, as well as green fig jam, fig sauce, fig-based energy bars and numerous other products. By modernizing the processing factory, acquiring new machinery and applying modern fig production and process technology, Family Farm Ostojić meets the standards of modern agricultural production. That’s why the future of our Family Farm is quite clear: maintaining the standard of highest quality and developing new products along with expanding production capacities.

According to the operation 6.3.1. measures of rural development, means of 111.600,00 kn were approved for the project: acquiring of mechanization, marketing and purchasing of agricultural parcel. The goal of the project – raising the quality and availability of the product.
